The AIG Cancer Care plan is insurance for cancer, and medical provision for your peace of mind. Our cancer financial support pays out a lump sum for cancer related reconstructive or removal surgery. In addition, this lump sum is payable on the diagnosis of the illness - excluding the skin cancer variety.

 

The AIG Cancer Care plan offers the additional feature of a cancer diagnosis benefit. We pay this monthly payout for cancer for up to 6 months following the month of the date of diagnosis.

  1. Lump sum pay-out for cancer related reconstructive/removal surgery (payable once).
  2. Lump sum pay-out on the diagnosis cancer, excluding skin cancer (payable once).
  3. Monthly benefit - if you qualify for the cancer diagnosis benefit, we will pay the monthly recovery benefit for up to 6 months from the following month of the date of diagnosis or until termination of this insurance, whichever is earlier.
  4. All benefits are paid directly to the Insured Person.

The AIG Cancer Care plan provides financial support for cancer patients. It is a lump sum pay-out for the first diagnosis of cancer.

In addition, this is aid for cancer patients to ease the financial burden that often accompanies diagnosis of a dread disease.

The AIG Cancer Care Plan is available for anyone between the ages of 18 and 65 years.

The AIG Cancer Care Plan is available for individuals only

The AIG Cancer Care Plan is cover for the diagnosis of cancer and does not cover death or illness related disability.

The AIG Cancer Care Plan covers the diagnosis of cancer as well as cancer related reconstructive or removal surgery if it occurs within 12 month’.  On receipt of the required documentation AIG will pay you an immediate lump sum following an insured incident and then a monthly benefit for up to 6 months following the date of diagnosis

To claim from the AIG Cancer Care Plan, simply call us on 0860-113-522.  You will be requested to complete a claim form and provide proof of diagnosis

Once we pay you the maximum benefit for:

  • Diagnosis of cancer; and
  • Recovery from cancer; and
  • Surgery for cancer or 1 year (12 months) has elapsed since your first Diagnosis of cancer and no reconstructive surgery or removal surgery has been performed by a medical doctor;

Unless you cancel the policy or we cancel the policy, this policy will renew until:

  • Your 75th birthday
  • The date we pay you the maximum benefit. From this date, your cover ends for all insured events and you will have no further rights to claim.

With the AIG Cancer Care Plan there are no medical questions or tests required. No HIV test is required.

Your premium is determined by the level of cover you select. Can I take you through some of our options now?

No there are no medical examinations. We do ask if you ever been diagnosed with, been treated for or received medical advice in respect of cancer or tumour of any kind (other than non-malignant melanoma skin cancer).

AIG Life South Africa Limited does not insure any terrorist or member of a terrorist organisation, drug trafficker or supplier of nuclear, chemical or biological weapons.

Medical conditions

This policy does not cover an insured event that results directly or indirectly from any of the following medical conditions:

  1. Any pre-existing cancer; 
  2. a cancer which is histologically classified as pre-malignant, for example essential thrombocythaemia and polycythaemia rubra vera; non-invasive; cancer in situ (excluding the breast); having either borderline malignancy; or having low malignant potential; 
  3. a tumour of the prostate unless histologically classified as having a Gleason score greater than 6 or having progressed to at least clinical TNM classification T2N0M0; 
  4. chronic lymphocytic leukaemia unless histologically classified as having progressed to at least Binet Stage A. 
  5. skin cancer (including cutaneous lymphoma) other than malignant melanoma that has been histologically classified as having caused invasion beyond the epidermis (outer layer of skin); 
  6. any cancer that is diagnosed in the presence of HIV 
  7. Any illness other than cancer.

Medical treatment

This policy does not cover diagnostic surgery. 

Activities

This policy does not cover an insured event that results directly or indirectly from the wilful neglect or failure to get, and follow, medical advice or treatment for an insured event.

Events

This policy does not cover an insured event that results directly or indirectly from any of the following:

  1. Biological or chemical warfare. 
  2. A nuclear event.

Exclusions

The AIG Cancer Care plan provides dread disease cover, offering financial security for your peace of mind in the event of the diagnosis of this critical illness.

 

The policy will however not cover you in the following instances:

  • Any pre-existing cancer; 
  • Any Cancer of which the signs or symptoms first occurred prior to or within the first 90 days following the inception date of this Policy.
  • Skin cancer 
  • Cancer that is diagnosed in the presence of HIV 
  • Any illness other than cancer.
